Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding featuring a 41mm stainless steel case. The bracelet, case, and dial are fully customized with pave diamonds. Gerald Genta, one of the most famous watch designers, was tasked on the eve of 1971 by Audemars Piguet to create an "unprecedented steel watch" design for all occasions. Apparently, Genta's eureka moment was inspired by the traditional diver's helmet. Audemars Piguet presents the octagonal bezel with its 8 hexagonal screws which have become the collection's trademark. With its steel case, octagonal bezel, “Tapisserie” dial, and integrated bracelet, the Royal Oak overturned the prevailing codes in 1972 and took its rightful place as a modern icon.
