The perpetual calendar mechanism had remained antiquated and virtually unchanged for over 100+ years until MB&F and Stephen McDonnell decided to change that. This masterpiece incorporates over 580 components and has completely reinvented one of the most traditional of horological complications. The Legacy Machine Perpetual can be easily and quickly set without a stylus utilizing the pushers on the case sides. It further stands as one of the first and only perpetual calendars in the world that incorporates a clutch system into the mechanism to prevent damage when setting and adjusting the calendar. Add this to the flying balance wheel taking center stage above the skeleton movement and you have a true collectors timepiece! This iconic watch was even further recognized when it won the prestigious GPHG award in Geneva in 2016.
